Typography
There are many texts, few photos and drawings, many opportunities for text changes, and a small number of prints-prints between hundreds or thousands should be printed in letterpress. The number of typographic printing should not exceed 30,000, and the electronic version of fine pictures should not exceed 70,000 or 80,000. The printed picture must use pink paper to get the perfect dots. So you can’t use cheap paper to print pictures and hope to get exquisite results. When using letterpress typeset forms, the junctions of lines are easy to separate and disconnect, which is a common disadvantage. In addition, when the printing pressure is too high or the surface of the pressure cylinder is too soft during printing, there will be relief-like protrusions on the back of the finished product sheet, which will greatly reduce the quality of the printed matter.
Gravure printing
Gravure printing is suitable for printing high-quality and expensive publications. Whether it is four-color or black-and-white pictures, gravure printing can be highly similar to photographs. Due to the high cost of platemaking and the large print volume, it is the least used of the five types of printing in Hong Kong.
Screen printing
Because the screen printing ink is particularly thick, it is most suitable for special effects, and the quantity is small and the ink color needs to be thick. It can also be printed in three dimensions, such as square boxes, boxes, round bottles, cans, etc. In addition to paper, you can also print cloth, handlebars, plywood, plastic sheets, metal sheets, glass, etc. It is commonly used to print pennants, T-shirts, Watton boxes, soda bottles, circuit boards, etc. The above-mentioned various printing characteristics are impossible by other printing methods.
Offset printing
Offset printing is only suitable for printing plastic bags, hand drawn, and large and small plastic packaging. The input of the printing sheet is not a single sheet but a roll, and it should be cut one by one after printing. The fineness of printed dots and lines is far inferior to letterpress and offset printing. It can be seen that offset printing cannot be used to print books and periodicals.
